National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) urged all motorists to ensure the safety of learners as schools reopen.
The authority said the back-to-school season in the past recorded violations leading to both fatal and serious injuries.
"Previous years have recorded violations leading to fatal and serious injuries among school children and it is the responsibility of motorists to prevent these unfortunate incidences," the statement read.
They urged parents to use safe modes to ferry children to and from school, adding that only compliant and roadworthy vehicles should be used.
