The National Treasury has invited tenders for fumigation and pest control services, an opportunity exclusively reserved for youth, women and Persons with Disabilities.
In a paid advert, the ministry said tender documents may be downloaded by interested and illegible candidates free of charge at its website.
“This tender is exclusively reserved for the youth, women and persons with disabilities,” the advert said.
Completed tender documents are to be deposited at the Treasury Building on or before March 21, 2023, at 11 am.
“The tenders will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of the tenderers or their representatives who chose to attend the opening at the National Treasury Building at 11 am Kenyan time,” the ministry said.
The government has been making deliberate efforts to passionately address youth problems ranging from unemployment, poverty and unexploited expertise.
It is the government’s policy that 30 per cent of tenders be awarded to the youth, women and people with disabilities.
The policy is implemented within the context of the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) programme which was officially launched by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on October 16, 2013.
AGPO is anchored on Article 227 of the Constitution on the fair equitable, transparent and cost-effective public procurement of goods and services.
It is also based on 2010 Article 55 on affirmative action and the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015.
The aim of the AGPO programme is to facilitate the enterprises owned by women, youth and persons with disabilities to be able to participate in Government opportunities.
