Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are probing a suspected suicide incident in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The sleuths launched the investigations after the decomposing body of doctor intern was retrieved from his rented house in Kangundo sub-county on Saturday.
Police said Fredrick Wambua's body was found dangling in his bedroom.
Kangundo sub-county deputy police commander Michael Singa said the incident happened at around 1300 hours.
Singa said the deceased, a medicine student at Moi University, was working at Kangundo Level 4 hospital as an intern.
"A doctor at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital reported to Kangundo police station that one of their interns, Dr Fredrick Wambua, 29, had committed suicide inside his rented house at an apartment in Kangundo Town," Singa told reporters on Saturday.
Singa said the decomposing body was found hanging on the wall.
He said senior police officers from Kangundo sub-county visited the scene and confirmed the incident.
Singa said a suicide note believed to have been written by the deceased was recovered from the scene.
He said police processed the scene and the body was moved to Kangundo Level 4 hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
Police are yet to disclose details of the suicide note.
It is suspected the intern ended his own life using an electric cable. He lived alone in the house.
The deceased had reportedly gone missing for some time. He hadn't been seen at work for some days.
