Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has assured aspirants that UDA nominations for the Kandara parliamentary seat will be free and fair.
The DP asked all elected leaders from the region to keep off the primaries to allow votes pick the most popular candidate.
“We have agreed that we shall not get involved in this nominations, let the residents make their own choice on the leader they want,” Gachagua said.
He spoke during a church service at AIPCA Kenol on Sunday.
“Alice Wahome and I have agreed that the people will decide.”
Over 20 politicians have declared their interest for the UDA ticket ahead the January 5, 2023 by-election.
The seat fell vacant after ex-area MP Alice Wahome was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation.
Whoever will win the United Democratic Alliance party ticket will be almost guaranteed of victory given that the party enjoys massive support in the county.
