Might the May 13 judgment by five High Court judges against BBI have its roots within the government?
Governments survive through plans, schemes and conspiracies. Ministries, departments and individuals do that to streamline matters, protect the state, processes and systems.
The people should understand government, its life, functions and security to avoid being manipulated. The basic fact is that government is a creature of society, the people are the life and authority givers to government.
In return, the government’s obligation is to assure physical (including food), constitutional security and health services to citizens. That is what internal/national security entails.
Although government is predicated on three arms, the Executive, the Judiciary and the Legislature, it is defended, protected and coordinated by the President, the symbol of unity and the protector of the people’s Constitution.
The assumption is there is nothing major that would happen within the three arms of government without the knowledge of the President. If it does, and it can, it would reflect struggle and mistrust, inability to unite and lack of forthrightness.
The government is not a one-person show: It is the one person and lieutenants, more than 20 competent and alert individuals who feel and notice potential threat to the state requiring national attention.
The National Security Committee and the Cabinet, interdependently, reflect, discuss and resolve national matters. Those are the teams that our President relies on for filtering and vetting information. It is through them that information is disseminated and action taken to protect, defend and coordinate government to secure the state and the Constitution.
Be that as it may, nobody should intimate that the President did/does not know about some constitutional provisions, parliamentary enactments, court rulings, judgments and the many positions taken by the Judiciary and the two Houses of Parliament which influence society, whichever way.
Cabinet Secretaries in their individual and joint ministerial services are the main executors and implementors and cannot run away from blame when things fail. Do the three arms of government ever meet? If not, why not?
Let us not get stuck because of what we hear and see coming from UhuRuto corners. That is the presidency, made of politicians and it can scheme anything. What the two are doing is not new, they have done it before.
Appreciate that the two, and by extension Raila Odinga, were students of President Daniel Moi, the father of conspiracy. The three occupied the two top Kanu seats at some point when Moi said Kanu was to rule this country for 100 years, this is exactly what he meant.
I see a big conspiracy here. That, all these Kanu men have schemed to divide themselves into opposing groups simply to create an impression mingled with confusion to make sure potential threats are kept at bay. After all, they are the owners of capital and they control other resources. With a hungry, sick and needy Kenya, they are the ‘solution’.
Out of these teams, whoever forms government, whichever way, welcomes the others (the losers), and the story continues. We have been treated to this before, please!
This year is no different. Look back to the 1976 Change-the-Constitution campaign that was meant to popularise Moi, although many Kenyans viewed it as fighting him. Yes, but it also created millions of sympathisers.
The campaign traversed communities and made Moi a household name, which was the intention. How was Uhuru himself made? We are at it again. The campaign we have now, although slightly different, is taking the same course, popularising politicians in readiness for 2022. Just read their lips for their aims and intentions.
I see conspiracy and a well-calculated scheme by the government to scuttle the BBI, their own baby, for several reasons.
One, the political confusion that has grown since 2018 has matured and does not need refuelling.
Infighting in Nyanza, Central and Rift Valley is resounding and allows the One Kenya Alliance, where the intended successor is expected to emerge, to gain traction for 2022.
Two, many frustrating issues have annoyed the people, which include education of children, the coronavirus menace and related theft, long-standing economic evils, counties’ economic and the political mess which the Executive has neither addressed nor attempted to.
When these issues are not addressed, the solution is simply to overlap them with other confusions to offer diversionary avenues.
Three, political gangs around Mt Kenya are busy looking for Uhuru’s successor and Raila is their obstruction. Some of them say President Uhuru Kenyatta has finished with Raila and the time to let go is now.
The government is ably coordinated and the judgment by the five judges is meant to relieve it of burdens that mwananchi may not see just yet, until it is revealed as days pass I pray for my motherland.
