The second day of the Linda Mwananchi tour, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, gets underway today with a series of political engagements across Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties.
The tour will culminate in a major rally at Posta Grounds in Bungoma Town.
According to the programme released by the organisers, the day will begin with a mass service at St Immaculate Cathedral at 7 am before the delegation departs for Bungoma county.
The team is scheduled to make a stopover at Kiminini Town at 9 am, followed by another engagement in Kimilili Town at 11 am.
At noon, Sifuna and his team will address a roadside rally in Chwele before proceeding to Bungoma Town, where they are expected to headline what organisers have described as the "mother of all rallies" at Posta Grounds.
In a public notice, the Linda Mwananchi movement also appealed to supporters to contribute towards the campaign through its official paybill number, saying the donations would help facilitate the ongoing mobilisation drive.
Western Kenya has taken centre stage this weekend as Sifuna embarked on the high-profile, two-day homecoming tour, an event widely viewed by his supporters as the opening phase of a broader national political campaign ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The political mobilisation, which features rallies and grassroots engagements across the region, comes amid Sifuna's rising profile within the opposition and is expected to attract thousands of supporters alongside senior opposition leaders from across the country.
Political analysts say the tour could reshape the political landscape in Western Kenya, with reports indicating that several leaders from ODM and other political parties are preparing to publicly align themselves with Sifuna's emerging political movement.
The Western Kenya tour also follows the release of the latest TIFA opinion poll, which showed Sifuna among the biggest gainers in the presidential race. According to the survey, his support rose from 10 per cent in May to 15 per cent in June 2026, marking the largest increase among the leading presidential hopefuls.
Over the same period, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i registered declines in support, while President William Ruto's approval rating remained unchanged at 24 per cent.
Sources familiar with the preparations say Sunday's Bungoma rally is expected to unveil a broader political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections. The meeting is also expected to endorse Sifuna as a leading political voice within the Luhya community before launching what organisers describe as a nationwide political mobilisation campaign.
