Police officers had a difficult time entering into Ol-Kalou Comprehensive School on Wednesday in an incident that drew attention from residents and observers amid heightened security in the area.

A video circulating online shows officers gathered outside the school gate as individuals inside the compound refuse to grant them access.

Voices captured in the footage repeatedly declare, "Hakuna kuingia" (No entry), as the officers remain outside the premises.

The circumstances surrounding the attempted entry were not immediately clear.

The incident attracted a crowd, with the public watching as events unfolded at the school's entrance.

No violence or destruction of property was visible in the footage, and there were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests linked to the standoff.

Authorities had yet to issue an official statement explaining the events at Ol-Kalou Comprehensive School by the time of publication.

The incident has since generated discussion on social media, with Kenyans expressing differing views on the incident.

Others called for restraint and urged authorities to provide an official account to prevent speculation.

The by-election was triggered by the death of David Njuguna Kiaraho of the Jubilee Party on March 29, 2026, creating a vacancy in the National Assembly seat.

The contest has attracted significant political attention, with major parties treating it as a key test of their influence in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The outcome is expected to provide an early indication of shifting political loyalties and shape campaign strategies as parties seek to consolidate support in one of the country's most influential voting blocs.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has urged voters and political stakeholders to uphold peace, respect the law and allow the electoral process to proceed without interference.

Election observers have also called on all parties to exercise restraint and channel any grievances through the established legal and electoral dispute resolution mechanisms.
