KUCCPS officers are providing free career guidance and placement information during the two-day summit at KICC /KUCCPS
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is offering career guidance services at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi ahead of the September university intake and the ongoing continuous college placement exercise.
The public sensitisation programme is taking place during the two-day Skill Up Africa Summit 2026, which opened on Wednesday and concludes on Thursday.
The summit has brought together policymakers, employers, training institutions, labour market experts and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss future skills, employment opportunities and workforce readiness for young people.
"KUCCPS officers are on site to provide career guidance services, information on university and college student placement processes and advice on university, college, and TVET opportunities," KUCCPS said.
The placement agency said learners, parents, guardians, teachers and other members of the public attending the summit can visit the KUCCPS exhibition booth to receive guidance from career officers.
The outreach comes a week after KUCCPS released the 2026–2027 placement results, in which 293,869 students secured places in universities and tertiary institutions.
Of those placed, 202,133 were admitted to degree programmes, while 91,736 joined diploma, certificate and artisan courses.
The career guidance sessions are expected to help newly placed students make informed decisions ahead of the opening of the inter-institutional transfer window, which allows applicants to apply for a change of course or institution.
The programme also helps learners align their interests and abilities with suitable academic programmes, understand labour market trends and identify marketable skills, while preparing them for the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum.
KUCCPS has said students wishing to change the courses or institutions to which they were admitted before the September intake will have a one-month application window once the transfer exercise officially opens.
The agency has cautioned students, parents and guardians against fraudsters claiming to facilitate transfers at a fee, stressing that the application window has not yet opened.
"Students, parents and the general public are advised that KUCCPS has not started receiving inter-institutional transfer applications. Application dates will be announced soon through this X Page, KUCCPS website and the Student Portal. Beware of false and misleading information," KUCCPS said in a notice issued on July 10.
KUCCPS has been collaborating with stakeholders to offer sensitisation services to students in a bid to enhance career awareness.
Last week, the service conducted career guidance activities in Mombasa county in partnership with various stakeholders.
On Friday, July 11, KUCCPS officials led by CEO Mercy Wahome graced the Zetech University Career Fair, where students from 26 schools in Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos and Murang’a counties were sensitised on career pathways and training opportunities.
