Emmanuel Wanyonyi has produced a historic performance at the Monaco Diamond League after breaking the men's 1000m world record.
Wanyonyi clocked 2:11.83 to eclipse the previous world record of 2:11.96 set by fellow Kenyan Noah Ngeny 27 years ago.
The remarkable run also made him only the second man in history to complete the distance in under two minutes and 12 seconds.
Britain's Jake Wightman finished second after pushing Wanyonyi all the way to the finish line. Wightman crossed in 2:12.77, a time that ranks him fourth on the all-time list.
The victory capped a memorable outing for Wanyonyi in Monaco, where he etched his name into athletics history.
