Six activists have denied charges of allegedly obstructing the operation of motor vehicles on a public road during Tuesday's Saba Saba anniversary protests in Nairobi. 

The six were released on a cash bail after appearing before the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.

Dickson Muli, James Bota, Dennis Kimani, Mulinge Muteti, Michael Ngige and Julius Kamau appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai on Wednesday to answer charges of obstructing the operation of motor vehicles on a road, contrary to Section 58(c) of the Kenya Roads Act (Chapter 408 of the Laws of Kenya).

The six pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court ordered that each accused person be released on a cash bail of KSh2,000 pending the hearing and determination of the case.

A legal team led by lawyer Babu Owino, alongside advocate John Ndegwa, represented the accused during the plea-taking proceedings at the Milimani Law Courts.

The case is expected to proceed to hearing on a date to be set by the court. The charges remain allegations unless proved in court.
