The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will on Thursday, July 9, launch the Pre-Election Disputes Resolution Report for the 2022 General Election in a move aimed at enhancing electoral integrity.

The report which will be launched alongside the Case Digest for the 2022 General Election also seeks to strengthen Kenya's electoral justice system ahead of future polls.

The event will be held under the theme, "Path to the Polls: Electoral Integrity Through Justice and Dispute Resolution," highlighting the critical role that effective and timely resolution of electoral disputes plays in safeguarding democratic processes.

According to the commission, the report captures experiences, legal decisions and key lessons arising from the resolution of pre-election disputes during the 2022 General Election.

The accompanying case digest compiles significant rulings that shaped the electoral process, providing a reference for election administrators, political parties, candidates, legal practitioners and other stakeholders.

The publication is expected to contribute to ongoing electoral reforms by promoting consistency in the handling of disputes, improving transparency and strengthening public confidence in electoral institutions.

The commission has maintained that effective dispute resolution remains a cornerstone of credible elections.

The launch comes as IEBC continues preparations for upcoming electoral activities, including by-elections and the roadmap towards the 2027 general election.

The commission has also been undertaking institutional reforms and upgrading its systems to improve service delivery and enhance public trust in the electoral process.

In a notice shared on its official X account, IEBC announced the event with a countdown message reading: "1 day to go! To the Launch of Pre-Election Disputes Resolution Report for 2022 General Election & Case Digest for 2022 General Election."

The commission says the report will serve as an important resource in promoting electoral integrity through justice, while supporting stakeholders in preventing and resolving electoral disputes more effectively in future elections and reinforcing confidence in Kenya's dispute resolution mechanisms ahead of the 2027 general election.
