Thousands of students who sat the 2025 KCSE eaxamination can now confirm where they have been placed after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) released the 2026/27 placement results on Wednesday.
The results, released by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba at the Edge Convention Centre, College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi, show that 293,869 students have been placed in universities and other tertiary institutions.
The placements include 202,133 students admitted to degree programmes, 28,246 to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), 500 to the diploma in law (Paralegal Studies) programme at the Kenya School of Law, 765 to Kenya Utalii College and 875 to secondary Teacher Training College (TTC) programmes.
Students can check their placement by logging into the KUCCPS Student Portal using the following steps:
- Visit the official KUCCPS website at www.kuccps.ac.ke.
- Select the Student's Portal option.
- Enter your KCSE index number.
- Select the year you sat the KCSE examination.
- Enter your portal password. Click Login to access your account.
- Check your dashboard to view your placement details, including the institution and course you have been offered.
Applicants have been advised to access the portal only through the official KUCCPS website to avoid fraudulent links and misleading information.
After confirming their placement, students should visit the website of the university or college where they have been admitted.
The respective institutions will issue admission letters, reporting dates, fee structures and other joining instructions.
Download the admission letter and present it on the admisison date stated by the institution together with the other relevant documents.
Ogamba announced that students who failed to apply during the initial placement exercise will be given another opportunity.
The Cabinet Secretary said the Ministry of Education has directed KUCCPS to immediately develop a mechanism that will allow late applications from eligible candidates who missed the initial application window.
"Our clarion call is that no student should be left behind," he said.
The CS further announced that students seeking to change the institutions or courses to which they have been admitted will have more time to do so after the cross-institution transfer period was extended from the usual two weeks to one month.
"Universities and colleges to which students have been placed are now expected to immediately embark on preparations for admission and communicate appropriate joining instructions," Ogamba said.
He added that the Higher Education Financing portal has already been opened for first-time applicants seeking government scholarships and student loans.
Students applying for funding have been advised to submit their applications through www.hef.co.ke or www.helb.co.ke as soon as possible.
