President William Ruto has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China on the party's 105th anniversary, praising China's economic transformation and reaffirming Kenya's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
The President said China's remarkable development over the past century, particularly in recent decades, offers valuable lessons for Kenya as it pursues economic growth under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Ruto's congratulatory message, delivered on his behalf by United Democratic Alliance Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan, was formally received by Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan.
In the message addressed to President Xi, Ruto said China's progress under the leadership of the Communist Party had been one of the most remarkable development stories in modern history.
"Over the past century, and particularly in recent decades, China has undergone one of the most remarkable transformations in modern history," Ruto said.
He noted that under the CPC's leadership, China had lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, built one of the world's most dynamic and competitive economies, emerged as a global leader in science, technology and innovation, and significantly improved the welfare and quality of life of its people.
The President attributed the achievements to what he described as the party's commitment to disciplined governance, institutional renewal and effective leadership.
"These extraordinary achievements reflect the CPC's steadfast commitment to self-reform, self-supervision and disciplined governance, qualities that have continually strengthened the Party's capacity for renewal, institutional resilience and effective national leadership," he said.
Ruto also commended President Xi's leadership in advancing governance reforms and steering China's modernisation agenda.
He said Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era had provided a coherent governance framework that continues to guide China's modernisation, national rejuvenation and high-quality development.
The President further acknowledged China's growing partnership with Africa through initiatives such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative.
He said the initiatives, alongside expanding party-to-party cooperation, had reinforced China's role as Africa's trusted comprehensive strategic partner and a champion of South-South cooperation.
"Kenya continues to draw inspiration from China's remarkable development journey as it accelerates the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda," Ruto said.
He added that Kenya remains committed to inclusive, people-centred and forward-looking policies aimed at achieving rapid and sustainable economic growth, expanding opportunities for citizens and delivering shared prosperity.
The President expressed confidence that relations between Kenya and China would continue to deepen, describing the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as mutually beneficial.
"As the CPC marks this historic milestone, I extend heartfelt congratulations to President Xi Jinping, the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the people of China," Ruto said.
"I am confident that the longstanding friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Kenya and China will continue to flourish for the mutual benefit of both nations and their peoples."
Kenya and China have maintained close diplomatic and economic ties, with Beijing remaining one of Nairobi's key development partners in infrastructure, trade, investment and technology.
The latest message from President Ruto underscores Kenya's intention to further strengthen cooperation with China as both countries seek to expand economic collaboration and deepen their longstanding bilateral relationship.
Founded in 1921, the CCP won the Chinese Civil War against the Kuomintang and proclaimed the establishment of the PRC under the chairmanship of Mao Zedong in October 1949.
The CCP has since governed China and has had sole control over the country's armed forces and law enforcement.
As of 2025, the CCP has more than 101 million members, making it the second largest political party by membership in the world.
"The socialist China under the leadership of the CPC is widely recognised as the defender of world peace, contributor to global development and upholder of international order," Guo said.
Guo stated that the CPC at 105 is right in its prime.
"On the new journey, China, taking firm steps towards the right direction, will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation and win-win, carry forward the common values of humanity, promote the building of a new type of international relations, work to deliver on the four major global initiatives, join hands with all countries in building a community with a shared future for humanity, and jointly open up more promising prospects for humanity," he said.
