Embakasi East MP Babu Owino celebrates after he was ranked top perfoming MP by Infotrak / BABU OWINO X

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has attributed his recognition as Kenya's best-performing Member of Parliament in the latest CountyTrak Performance Index 2026 to service delivery, visionary leadership and his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

On Wednesday, Babu Owino emerged as the top-performing Member of Parliament in the latest CountyTrak Performance Index 2026 released by Infotrak Research and Consulting.

According to the survey, Babu Owino recorded an approval rating of 80 per cent, placing him ahead of his peers in the nationwide assessment of elected leaders.

Speaking after being named the country's top-performing MP in the survey, Babu Owino thanked the people of Embakasi East for their support, saying the recognition belonged to them.

The legislator said leadership should be measured by service to the people rather than positions or titles.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I want to take this opportunity to thank the Almighty God for giving me this chance to lead the great people of Embakasi East Constituency. To the great people of Embakasi East Constituency, I want to thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. We are a family, and I will always work for you," he said.

"Leadership is not about position. Leadership is not about titles. Leadership is not about power. Leadership is about service delivery, courage, vision and responsibility. As a leader, I always ask myself, what can I give to the people, not what can I gain?"

He said the true measure of leadership is the number of lives transformed, adding that he would remain committed to serving his constituents.

Babu Owino congratulated fellow Members of Parliament who performed well in the survey, saying the findings showed many legislators were working hard.

"As a statistician, I must say that from the numbers I have seen, Members of Parliament are really working hard. When you look at the rankings beyond the top 100, many are still scoring over 50 per cent. That means that as a Member of Parliament, if you work hard, you are likely to be re-elected automatically because once you have reached the 50 per cent mark, it means you are already above average," he said.

The MP thanked Infotrak for conducting the survey and said the results demonstrated the importance of accountability and service delivery.

Babu Owino reaffirmed his commitment to the Linda Mwananchi movement, saying its leaders were focused on serving Kenyans despite not being part of the government.

"Of course, I'm a political leader, so I must be a political animal. As I play politics, I must also serve the people. The people of Embakasi East elected me to serve them, but they did so through a political process, so I must engage in politics," he said.

Babu Owino cited faith, vision, good management and accessibility, and encouraged colleagues who ranked lower in the survey to view the results as an opportunity to improve.

"The first secret is God. In everything that you do, put God first... Secondly, it is about you as an individual. What vision do you have? Are you on a mission to destroy the lives of the constituents who elected you, or do you have a vision to transform their lives for the better? The secret is management, being organized, putting God first and, of course, being accessible to the people," he said.

"I have seen some who were ranked as low as number 216 previously improve to around number 46. That shows there is still a lot of room for improvement. These Members of Parliament are our brothers and sisters. I know they understand why they were elected, and I am confident they will continue to improve."
