Musalia office unveils dashboard to monitor progress of Ruto projects

The Kenya Kwanza administration has unveiled a dashboard where members of the public can access and monitor the progress of key projects being undertaken.

The National Government Dashboard System seeks to “strengthen coordination and performance monitoring and national development delivery through intergrade real-data insights”. It can be accessed on the website: https://ngds.primecs.go.ke/.

The NGDS is coordinated through the chairmanship of Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, while his Chief of Staff Joseph Busieaga and PSs Dr Korir Sing’Oei (Foreign Affairs), Roselyne Njogu (Diaspora Affairs), Ahmed Ibrahim (Coordination), Dr Aurelia Rono (Parliamentary Affairs) and Prof Shaukat Abdulrazak (Science, Research and Innovation) sit in the board.

The dashboard indicates that 51 priority programmes and projects have been onboarded, with the website also publishing data on media coverage of the key projects.

The Daily Nation leads in terms of publication and broadcast of state projects at at 153, while the Star is listed as second at 110, and the Standard and Business Daily tie at 54.

The data shows that the public estimated cost by the President William Ruto administration of the 51 projects highlighted stands at Sh9.4 trillion, with its average progress in delivery standing at 29.0 per cent.

Five of the projects are indicated as complete, seven stalled, three in the pipeline and 36 ongoing.

For instance, on the completion and operationalisation of Special Economic Zones in Naivasha, Athi River, Kenanie Leather Industrial Park and development of new Export Processing Zones Authorities in Uasin Gishu, Kirinyaga, Nakuru, Muranga, Busia, Kwale and Lamu, performance was at 27.6 per cent as at April 22, 2026.

The projects, worth Sh62.3 billion under the Ministry of Trade and Investments, were conceptualised in 2022.  

The Sh6 billion conversion of East African Portland Cement Company into a Building Materials Complex aimed at promoting production and utilisation of affordable construction materials and green construction materials is at 1.1 per cent. It was launched on October 1, 2024 and is expected to be complete by June 30, 2028.

The Sh22.3 billion County Aggregation and Industrial Parks Projects, launched on August 22, 2022, is at 16.9 per cent as at June 23, 2026. Most of them were expected to be complete by August next year.

Establishment of a Dairy Feed Centre in Every Ward at Sh2.3 billion, which was to commence July 1, 2024 and be complete by June 30, 2028, has its progress indicated as 0 per cent; which means it has stalled.

The establishment of a Sh22 billion Modern Integrated Iron and Steel Mill Plant to promote value addition for scrap metal is shown at 2.5 per cent despite having been launched in July 2023 with expected completion in June 2028.

The Sh1.8 billion modernisation of the Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute stands at 36.4 per cent as at April 22, 2026. It has June 30,2028 as completion date.  

The Sh132.4 billion National Tree Growing and Restoration under the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, which seeks to increase forest cover and green jobs, sits at 26.8 per cent as at June 26, 2026.

The ambitious Jaza Miti initiative, which aims to grow 15 billion trees by 2032 to increase forest cover to 30 per cent, was launched in July 2023.

As at June 17, 2026, Ruto's Sh1.9 trillion pet project of constructing 200,000 Affordable Housing Units annually stood at 29.0 per cent.

On infrastructure, the construction of 6,000km of roads has indicated at delivery of 18.5 per cent as at May 6, 2026. The government has committed Sh286.5 billion for the road projects that the state hopes to complete by June 30, 2028.

The Digital Access and Creative Economy is one of the sectors that have achieved highly at 53.8 per cent as of June 16, 2026. The Sh10.9 billion project aimed to empower the youth to access digital and digitally enabled job opportunities was launched by Ruto’s predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta in July 2013, with December 31, 2030 marked as completion date.

The Sh205 million Digitalisation of Government Services and Records to ensure timely retrieval and safety of public service records is at 23.8 per cent as at June 16, 2026 despite having been rolled out 15 years ago.  

Some Sh182.4 billion was committed as from July 2023 for power transmission and distribution to enhance access to clean, renewable, reliable and competitive energy services and to ensure uninterrupted availability of energy services. Its success is indicated at 25 per cent as at May 7, 2026. The completion date is June 30, 2028.

The implementation of Universal Health Care that seeks to increase the number of households with health insurance under the new social health insurance package is shown at 70.4 per cent.

The Sh754.2 billion Universal Primary and Secondary Education aimed to enhance access to primary education has achieved 28.2 per cent as at June 17, 2026, while the Sh63.7 billion Technical Vocational Education and Training Expansion is at 13.3 per cent as at June 24, 2026.

On Police Stations and National Government Administration Field Offices, the performance stands at 26.6 per cent, while the Sh5.9 billion Judicial Transformation aimed to improve access to and expeditious delivery of justice is at 23.2 per cent as at May 5, 2026.
