Two suspected drug traffickers arrested in Kilifi

Police in Kilifi county have arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized a large quantity of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation targeting narcotics distribution in the Sakina area.

According to the National Police Service, officers conducted the operation after acting on what it described as credible intelligence indicating the suspects were operating an illegal drug distribution network in the area.

Police said officers recovered two half-sacks of cannabis sativa, cannabis seeds, several packages of the substance that were allegedly ready for distribution, a digital weighing scale, a hammer, cash suspected to be proceeds of the trade, and other exhibits.

The two suspects are being held in police custody as investigations continue.

Police said appropriate legal action will be taken once the investigations are complete.

The National Police Service said it remains committed to combating narcotics and psychotropic substances and appealed to members of the public to report information that could help curb drug trafficking and improve community safety.

The service urged the public to report suspicious activities at the nearest police station or through its emergency numbers, the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line, or its official WhatsApp reporting channel.
