A sense of normalcy prevailed across Kisumu City and Homa Bay on Thursday morning as commemorative activities marking two years since the June 25, 2024, protests got underway in different parts of the country.

Business operations continued normally in Kisumu, with transport services running and residents going about their daily routines under limited security deployment.

According to photos seen by the Star, public and private transport operators continued serving commuters across the city and surrounding areas.

Movement along major roads remained uninterrupted as traders opened their premises and activity appeared largely normal during the morning hours.

The security presence appeared relatively limited compared to some other regions of the country, even as officers were deployed across different parts of the city to maintain law and order and monitor the situation.

Despite heightened attention around the commemorative events taking place nationally, there were no immediate signs of disruption in the city.
