Police are investigating an incident in which a 30-year-old man was found dead inside a residential compound in Murang’a East Sub-County after he is believed to have fallen while trying to climb over a razor-wire-reinforced perimeter wall.

The body of Bidan Gitumbu Mwangi was found on Monday morning at Kiawamburi Village.

Police officers attended the scene and found the deceased lying face down near the wall with injuries to his face, mouth, right hand and back.

The deceased was identified by his aunt, who informed investigators that he had been living at her home, which is next to the complainant’s residence.

According to preliminary investigations, the deceased is believed to have attempted to enter the homestead by climbing over the perimeter wall during the night. Police indicate he may have fallen and sustained injuries after contact with the razor wire.

His aunt further told investigators that the deceased was a habitual alcohol user and often returned home late at night, frequently accessing the compound through the perimeter wall.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene before the body was taken to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

Police initiated investigations, although preliminary findings indicate death may have resulted from an accidental fall.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy was found dead in what police believe was a case of strangulation in Gem Wagai Sub-County, Siaya County, on Monday morning, prompting an intensive investigation.

According to police, the child, who attended daycare at Uriri Primary School, had departed his home in Upper Central Village and was walking along the road when the incident occurred.

His lifeless body was later found in a bush approximately five metres from the main road and about 300 metres from his home.

The body was found by the child’s aunt, who immediately alerted the boy’s mother. However, before police officers arrived at the scene, the child’s uncle had taken the body from the bush and placed it by the roadside.

Officials have not identified any suspects, and the motive for the killing remains unknown.

The child’s body was taken to a mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death as investigations continue.
