Ongoing rehabilitation works on the Kimbo–Matangi–Ini Road in Theta Ward, Juja/HANDOUTKiambu County has scaled up its Boresha Barabara roads maintenance programme with rehabilitation works commencing on the Kimbo–Matangi–Ini Road in Theta Ward, Juja.
The intervention is part of a broader countywide roads rehabilitation plan targeting improved access and movement.
According to Governor Kimani Wamatangi, the county moved in to rehabilitate the road as residents continue to wait for plans to tarmac the route.
“The county government of Kiambu has stepped in to rehabilitate Kimbo–Matangi–Ini Road in Theta Ward, Juja, to motorable status as part of the county’s ongoing comprehensive roads rehabilitation programme, awaiting the national government's plan to tarmac it,” Wamatangi said.
Videos shared showcased ongoing rehabilitation works, with construction equipment including graders, lorries, and road construction materials deployed to the area.
Workers were seen undertaking grading and road restoration activities aimed at improving connectivity.
The county boss said the works form part of an intensive maintenance programme being implemented through the Department of Roads under the Boresha Barabara initiative.
Under the programme, county-owned equipment has been deployed across sub-counties while gravel and other construction materials are being sourced locally to support road repairs and maintenance.
"The county, through the Department of Roads, is undertaking an intense programme for road maintenance dubbed Boresha Bara Bara, where county-owned equipment has been deployed in sub-counties and gravel material sourced locally," he said.
Wamatangi said the county had committed additional machinery and logistical support to accelerate completion of the works.
“I have given out machines, a roller, a grader, I’ll even add equipment required for pouring water, and everything else...They will bring my machines once they have finished the road works,” he said.
The governor reiterated that improved road infrastructure remains central to enhancing mobility, supporting local businesses, and reducing transport challenges for residents across the county.
Wamatangi also linked development performance to political accountability, maintaining that leaders would ultimately be assessed by the public based on a tangible development record.
He reiterated that Kenyans would evaluate the performance of elected leaders during the 2027 general election.
The county has intensified road maintenance efforts in different areas as part of wider infrastructure improvement plans intended to make local roads more accessible and usable.
The Juja road works now add to the list of projects being implemented under the Boresha Barabara programme as the county seeks to improve connectivity and respond to infrastructure challenges raised by residents.
