Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo held discussions with Italian officials on lessons from Italy’s experience in tackling organised crime that could inform policing efforts in Nairobi.

Omollo met Brigadier General Renzo Nisi of the Guardia di Finanza, who also serves as Head of Department at the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate (DIA), to discuss Italy’s long-standing approach to confronting mafia-type organisations.

The discussions focused on Italy’s experience in addressing organised criminal groups and the potential lessons that could be applied by the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit in dealing with organised criminal networks operating within urban services.

The press release said the engagement highlighted key takeaways from Italy’s experience that could support efforts by the Nairobi Metropolitan Police Unit to address organised criminal networks in urban areas.
