Open University of Kenya announces over 60 vacancies

The Open University of Kenya has announced a wide range of academic, research, ICT and administrative vacancies as the institution prepares for the January 2026 session.

In a notice on Tuesday’s issue of My Gov, the university invited qualified candidates to apply for positions across several divisions.

In the Division of Academic and Research, the Teaching and Learning Directorate is seeking a Deputy Director (Grade 14) specialising in curriculum design, pedagogy and ICT applications in education.

The School of Science and Technology has announced multiple openings, including Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Tutorial Fellow and Research Assistant positions.

Their specialisation should be in computer science, mathematics, statistics, community health nursing, midwifery, agricultural economics, agriculture, sustainable food production and biotechnology.

The posts range from Grade 10 to Grade 13.

In the School of Business and Economics, the university is recruiting Lecturers in accounting and human resource management, as well as Tutorial Fellows in finance, supply chain and logistics management, and project management.

The School of Education is advertising positions for Lecturers in language education (Kiswahili and English) and educational psychology, along with a Tutorial Fellow in technology education (power mechanics).

A Research Assistant role in education and English literature has also been listed.

The ICT Department is seeking specialists in systems administration, cloud architecture, network security, full-stack development, multimedia design, learner support operations and EdTech research with an AI focus.

The advertised roles range from Grade 8 to Grade 11.

Within Library Services, the university is recruiting two Systems Librarian Officers II to support database and library systems management.

Other vacancies fall under Internal Audit and the Division of Planning and Infrastructure, where positions include Senior Audit Assistant, Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, Senior Procurement Officers, Senior Accountant, Assistant Director of Legal Services, Senior Assistant Registrar, Administration Officers, Accounts Assistants, Drivers and Clerical Officers.

Applicants are required to submit an application letter, detailed CV, academic and professional certificates, a national ID and any other supporting documents as a single consolidated upload through the careers portal at ouk.ac.ke.

The institution said they must be submitted online through the link provided at the University website: https://ouk.ac.ke/careers and as per the instructions therein.

OUK advised candidates with foreign degrees to include recognition letters from the Commission for University Education.

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution is mandatory.

“Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted and shall be required to ask three (3) of their referees to share references directly to the University using a system mechanism that shall be provided,” the institution said.

Applications close on February 2, 2026.

The university has also opened admissions for the January 2026 session.

Self-sponsored students can apply via admissions.ouk.ac.ke, while KCSE 2000–2025 candidates may apply through KUCCPS at ouk.kuccps.net.

The university, which received its charter on August 3, 2023 under Section 24(1)(b) of the Universities Act, is Kenya’s first public open and distance learning university.

It operates from Konza Technopolis in Makueni County, approximately 70 kilometres from Nairobi along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway.

The institution was established to expand access to higher education through flexible, technology-driven learning.
