Teachers from across Kenya were honoured at the Tufunzeni Teacher Awards 2025, a national ceremony celebrating educators who are transforming teaching and learning through innovation, dedication, and community impact.
The ceremony was held at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).
The event, organised by Tufunzeni, an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering teachers, brought together educators, school leaders, education officials, and other stakeholders from across the country.
It provided a platform to recognise excellence in the teaching profession and celebrate teachers who are making a meaningful difference in classrooms and communities.

The honourees were recognised for going beyond the call of duty to inspire learners and improve educational outcomes.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dennis Omolo, the Founder and Executive Director of Tufunzeni, emphasised the need for teachers to be recognised and provided with the support they require to be effective in their roles.
He noted that investing in teachers is essential to improving learning outcomes and strengthening the education system.

Organisers noted that the awards are designed not only to celebrate individual achievement but also to elevate the status of the teaching profession and inspire other educators to pursue excellence.
They emphasised that recognising teachers’ efforts helps shine a spotlight on the critical role education plays in national growth and social transformation.
Beyond the awards, the ceremony also created space for dialogue on the challenges and opportunities facing Kenya’s education sector.
Speakers highlighted the need for continued investment in teacher development, supportive learning environments, and policies that empower educators to deliver quality education.
The ceremony concluded with a call for sustained support for teachers at all levels, with speakers emphasising that educators remain central to shaping learners, nurturing talent, and driving Kenya’s long-term national development.
