President William Ruto once again showed his lighter side during the 62nd Jamhuri Day celebrations, joining Kenyans in dance as Iyanii delivered a charged performance at Nyayo National Stadium.

Iyanii had just hit the stage with his popular track Donjo Maber, instantly lifting the mood across the stadium.

Crowds rose to their feet, waving flags and dancing along. The President was not left behind.

From the VVIP stand, he stood with a broad smile, gently swinging to the rhythm as thousands danced along.

While he watched the dancers keenly, Ruto kept to subtle steps instead of copying the energetic moves taking over the stadium.

He went on to keep pace with the music as Iyanii flowed into another tune, prompting the President to move to the beat of the line, Furaha ni Kuwa na Marafiki.

Iyanii later performed the aforementioned song, a moment that had several dignitaries singing along.

At one point, Ruto even pulled the famous Anguka Nayo move.

He slightly bent on one leg, as the signature dance requires, drawing laughter and applause from those watching.

Artist Trio Mio also took his turn with a patriotic song that kept the energy up, adding to the string of performances that shaped the celebratory mood of the day.

Other performing artists included Wadagliz, Hype ballo and Moji, among others.

Throughout the entertainment segment, Nyayo Stadium was wide awake

Kenyans dressed in shades of green, red, white and black danced, waved flags and sang along.

The vibrant displays of patriotism and music turned the entertainment break into one of the standout highlights of this year’s Jamhuri Day fête.

Kenya is marking the 62nd Jamhuri Day.

This year’s celebrations took on a particular significance under the official theme of “Tourism, Wildlife, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE)”, an effort by the government to highlight sectors seen as key drivers of economic growth and job creation.
