The family of Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei is in mourning following the passing of his father, Mzee John Kibiego Ole Sing’Oei.

The elder Sing’Oei’s death was confirmed publicly on Thursday evening by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi through a condolence statement on his official X account.

“I stand with Principal Secretary Dr Korir Sing’Oei, his family, and their loved ones as they mourn the passing of his father, Mzee John Kibiego Ole Sing’Oei, who departed after a short illness,” Mudavadi said.

In his statement, Mudavadi described the loss of a father as profound, one that words often fail to capture the weight of such a moment.

“A father’s presence shapes our direction, anchors our confidence, and gives meaning to the everyday journey of life,” he observed.

He added that Mzee Sing’Oei was more than just a parent; he was a pillar of wisdom, calm strength and unshakable integrity whose influence extended well beyond his immediate family.

“His humility and kindness touched countless lives, leaving a mark that will not fade with time,” Mudavadi said.

He further noted that Mzee Sing’Oei’s guidance, generosity and gentle spirit would continue to resonate through the people he mentored and the values he lived by.

“As we remember him, we hold onto the comforting truth that his influence and the lessons he imparted will continue to shine through future generations,” Mudavadi said.

“On behalf of the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary & Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and our entire team, we celebrate the life of Mzee Sing’Oei and recognize the profound legacy he leaves behind. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find solace in knowing that his faith, resilience, and service will continue to inspire generations,” the statement added.

While the family has not yet released details regarding funeral or burial arrangements, they are expected to announce plans in the coming days.

Friends, colleagues and members of the public have extended messages of sympathy and support to PS Korir Sing’Oei and his family during this difficult period.

"I also stand with sir Korir on the passing of his beloved papa. Pole ndugu," one said.

Mzee John Kibiego Ole Sing’Oei’s death marks the end of a life remembered for its humility, moral strength and dedication to family and community.
