

A 20-year-old man drowned as he was bathing in a river in
Nyatike area, Migori county.
Police said Brian Omondi Deya was taking a bath in River
Migori in Munyu area when he slipped in there and drowned.
His body
was later retrieved from the scene and taken to a local mortuary pending an
autopsy and other procedures.
Such incidents have become common in the area amid calls
for caution to avoid them, police said.
The victim is among two people who drowned in the area on Tuesday,
police said.
Elsewhere in Awendo area, Migori county, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a river in an accident.
The incident happened in Kanyaserega area, police
said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending other procedures.
Elsewhere in Chinga’s Kagicha area, Nyeri county, police are hunting for a gang that raided a road construction site and vandalised vehicles.
The gang also roughed up guards on duty who were guarding the S S Mehta
Construction Company site along the Kagicha-Muirungi Road.
According to the police, the gang in a salon car stole 14 batteries from machines there and two starters.
The guards were found tied in a room and rescued. Police said they are investigating the incident.
In Mai Mahiu area, Nakuru County, a driver was robbed of his lorry by four men who had posed as loaders.
The driver had joined
a feeder road to a quarry area on Tuesday afternoon when the four boarded, as it
usually happens.
After he reached near the quarry, the four men turned out to be thugs and took control of the Fuso F1 lorry.
They drove to Mutarakwa area, where they abandoned the driver on the road and sped off to an unknown destination, police said.
The search for the lorry is ongoing, police said on Wednesday.
In Kiugoine area, Nakuru County, a gang raided a Kenya Power
and Lighting substation and robbed copper wires of unknown value.
The gang of about five attacked the guards who were on duty
before vandalising property there and stealing the valuables.
The incident happened on Tuesday dawn, police said of drama at
Kalunga area in Kabatini.
The guards on duty said they were tied with wires and
beaten up by the gang after the gang had cut the electric fence to access the station.
One of the guards was injured in the attack and taken to a
local hospital for treatment.
Police said the gang escaped through the same fence, and efforts to trace them were ongoing.
