Nyamaiya Ward MCA-elect Chris Osiemo/HANDOUT
Chris Osiemo of the UPA party has been declared the winner of the Nyamaiya ward by-election, Nyamira county.

Mr Osiemo garnered 4,790, followed by Thomas Nyandieka (UDA), who got 1,357. 

The contest followed the passing of former MCA Elijah Osiemo and attracted nine candidates vying to represent the ward.

Still in Nyamira, UPA's candidate Njenga Jeremiah Ongaro was declared the winner of the Ekerenyo Ward MCA seat.

Ongaro garnered 3,507 votes, followed by UDA’s Ndubi Amenya Francis with 2,292 votes. Wiper’s Shem Makori Nyanumba came a distant third with 291 votes.

The results were announced by Returning Officer Wesley Ruto at Ikonge Girls High School.
