
Police in Mochorwe, Molo, Nakuru County are investigating the death of a woman whose decomposed body was discovered in a family borehole.
The body of 26-year-old Damaris Nyagothie was found on Wednesday, November 26, five days after she was reported missing.
According to police, some family members noticed a foul smell while fetching water from the borehole. Upon inspection, they discovered clothing and a decomposed human body.
The body was retrieved and taken to the local mortuary. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
In a separate incident, police in Bungoma County are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found in River Mayanja, Myanga.
The body was discovered on Thursday evening in Tabula C village. Police said there were no visible injuries, and the body was taken to the mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Bungoma County, detectives are investigating the death of 22-year-old Dominic Wafula, who was attacked at a funeral event in Bumula.
The circumstances of the attack are under investigation. Police reported that Wafula was rushed to a hospital after the assault but later died from his injuries.
His body had visible injuries to the right eye, shoulder, and left leg and was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Sotik, Bomet County, police are investigating the sudden death of 62-year-old Barnabas Jalango, who reportedly collapsed while selling roasted maize at Chepilat shopping centre. His body was taken to the mortuary for further examination.
In Kisumu County, authorities are investigating the death of 62-year-old Joseph Wasonga, found deceased in his home in Boya, Nyando.
A neighbour alerted police after noticing a foul smell from the house. Officers found the decomposed body lying on a bed. The cause of death is under investigation, and the body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
