Vincent Kiplimo Rutto of UDA is the new MCA-elect for Chemundu/Kapng'etuny ward in Nandi County.

The 23-year-old son of the late Chemundu MCA Julius Kipruto Keter has been declared the winner after securing a decisive victory that cements UDA’s dominance in the region.

Rutto won the seat with over 3,999 votes, a commanding lead over his closest challengers.

Independent candidate Robert Kirwa came in third with 225 votes, according to the official tally announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The by-election was triggered by the death of MCA Julius Kipruto Keter earlier this year.

Keter's son’s entry into the race, backed by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), sparked early interest in the contest, with many residents viewing the young candidate as a continuation of his father’s legacy of local leadership.
