Purko Ward MCA-elect Mpusia Amos /HANDOUTMpusia Amos of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has been declared the new Member of the County Assembly (MCA)-elect for Purko Ward in Kajiado County.
The seat fell vacant earlier this year following the death of former MCA Simon Saitoti.
The by-election pitted Mpusia against several rivals, notably Simon Sanare Saidimu of Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and Daniel Naikuni of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In the official results announced by IEBC, Mpusia won the seat after garnering 2,805 votes; DCP's Sanare got 1,522, while ODM's candidate Naikuni got 298 votes.
Voter registration for the ward stood at 4,848 ahead of the poll, meaning of the voters who turned out to vote today, 53 percent voted for the UDA candidate, 39 per cent for DCP's Sanare, and 7.6 percent voted for ODM's Naikuni. This means Purko recorded a high voter turnout of 80.5 percent at 3,900 voters in the by-election of Novermber 27, 2025.
In his acceptance speech, Mpusia thanked God for enabling him to secure the win.
"I also thank my competitors for a peaceful campaign, and I also want to thank the UDA leaders, as this win means Purko is still yellow and a Tutam zone," Mpusia said.
"I want to thank everyone, and I promise to work with my opponents to empower the people of Purko ward."
Former Interior CS Katoo Ole Metito is among the leaders who have lauded Mpusia for the win. He said, "Congratulations, Hon. Amos Mpusia, MCA-Elect Purko Ward. This is a big statement for our political future as a county. Thank you, Purko Ward."
Purko Ward is part of Kajiado Central Constituency, one of the five constituencies of Kajiado County.
