Detectives have launched investigations into the death of a 37-year-old woman whose body was discovered in tea bushes in Ramasha, Kisii County.

The woman, identified as Elizabeth Kemunto, was found about 500 metres from her home.

According to police, the body had bruises when it was discovered on Sunday afternoon, an indication that she had been killed long before it was found.

Officers moved the body to the mortuary where an autopsy is expected to be conducted as part of ongoing investigations.

Police said the motive behind the killing had not been established by Monday and no arrests had been made.

In a separate incident in Mutarakwa, Bomet County, police recovered the body of a man who had been missing for four days.

The deceased was identified as Tito Cheruiyot.

Police said he had been accused of stealing before he was fatally assaulted in a house and his body later dumped in a dam.

Four suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently led officers to the Gethsemane waterpoint in Chebole, where the body was recovered.

Police noted that they are pursuing another suspect believed to have been involved.

The body was taken to a local mortuary where an autopsy will be conducted.

Meanwhile, in Nyamonye, Bondo, Siaya County, police discovered the body of a man identified as Daniel Akoko on a farm. Officers said the cause of his death had not yet been determined.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

Another tragedy was reported in Kutulo, Mandera County, where a 105-year-old woman died in a fire incident.

Police said the fire was started by a teenage girl who had been caring for the elderly woman, identified as Habiba Gonjobo.

According to officers, the teenager had been asked by the deceased to light a fire as she felt cold.

After lighting the fire, the girl reportedly left the grass-thatched house to look for milk to cook for her.

When she returned, she found the house engulfed in flames.

The elderly woman was burnt to death.

Her remains were buried on Sunday as police continued to probe the circumstances surrounding the fire.

In another incident in the Carton area of Buruburu in Nairobi, a man died in a fire outbreak.

Police said the man is suspected to have been electrocuted while helping locals contain the spread of the fire. Several structures were destroyed in the incident.

The body was taken to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

Police said they had not yet determined the cause of the fire, which occurred on Monday morning.
