Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged voters in Mbeere North to focus on development rather than political insults as they prepare for next week’s by-election.

Speaking on Thursday at Kanyuambora while campaigning for UDA candidate Leonard Wamuthende, Kindiki said voters are interested in leaders committed to tangible development and improving livelihoods.

“The electorate is capable of distinguishing leaders who genuinely care about their welfare,” he said.

Kindiki emphasised that humility and service delivery define good leadership. He said UDA will concentrate on ongoing and planned development projects in the constituency rather than engaging in retaliatory rhetoric.

He highlighted initiatives that are set to continue under Wamuthende, including the Kanyuambora Irrigation Project valued at Sh250 million, the construction of the Kanyuambora Modern Market, and the Kanyuambora-Kamumu-Siakago Road.

The market is among 12 development projects in Embu County funded by the current administration.

The Deputy President also urged voters to maintain peace and unity during the campaign period.

“We must remember that after the elections, we will still live together as one community. Campaigns should not sow divisions among the people of Mbeere North,” he said.

The Mbeere North by-election is scheduled for Thursday, November 27.

Kindiki urged voters to reject attempts to incite divisions and maintain peace, friendship, and neighbourhood cohesion.

“We must remember that after the elections next week, we will still live together as one people. Campaigns should not sow enmity among the people of Mbeere North,” he noted.

Mbeere North is one the electoral areas where the by-election is set to go be conducted next Thursday, November 27.

The seat fell vacant after the elected MP Geoffrey Ruku joined the executive arm of the government as the Public Service Cabinet Secretary.
