A five-year-old boy died after he jumped from the rooftop of a building in the Kongowea area, Nyali, Mombasa County.

The boy was among a group of pupils attending a madrasa session at Masjid Noor in the area when the incident happened on the afternoon of November 18, 2025, police said.

The boy died instantly after landing on the ground floor, police and witnesses said. Residents buried the body at a local cemetery before police could process the scene.

Police said they are investigating the incident. They want to determine whether he was playing and jumped or was pushed off.

Elsewhere in the Nairobi West area, an employee of Nairobi West Hospital was found dead in his house. Police said Justine Maina had not reported to work for two days, prompting his medical colleague to check on him.

He found Maina lying dead on his bed. Police said they suspect the man died about four days earlier.

The body was discovered on the afternoon of November 18, 2025, and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

In Munanda, Gilgil, Nakuru County, the decomposed body of a man was found on a piece of land after a suspected murder.

The body had been mauled by wild animals in the area, and police suspected the animals to be hyenas.

The man’s left hand was missing, and his leg had been badly eaten.

The remains were taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in Obambo, Kisumu County, one George Ombodo, 31, was found dead on the roadside after he collapsed there.

His body was found next to three pieces of fish and chips that were in a paper bag after the November 18 incident.

The cause of death was not immediately known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police had to fire in the air to rescue a murder suspect in the Huruma area, Uasin Gishu County.

The suspect had been accused of killing a man who was allegedly trying to break into his home to steal.

He said he found the suspect trying to break into his home and beat him up. On realizing he was unconscious, he dragged the body to a nearby bush and left it there, police said of the November 18 incident.

When a mob found the body, they surrounded the man’s house in an attempt to lynch him. Police from Huruma Police Station rushed to the scene and managed to rescue him after deploying teargas canisters and firing live bullets into the air.

Police said the mob later burned the man’s Peugeot 505 car. Police managed to rescue the suspect to the local police station before picking up the body and moving it to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
