Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has stepped up campaigns for his party's candidate in Mbeere North.
The DCP leader urged residents to rally behind Newton Kariuki in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.
Addressing crowds at Kageeri Shopping Centre and Kiandu Market in Nthawa Ward, the former Deputy President cautioned voters against what he termed intimidation.
He called on the constituency to stand firm and vote with pride for the candidate they believe will represent them best.
He said Kariuki is the only candidate who understands the daily challenges facing Mbeere North and will remain accountable to the people.
Gachagua
was accompanied by former CS Justin Muturi, former CS Mithika Linturi, and
Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, who all echoed his appeal for residents to back
Kariuki.
During his early-morning door-to-door campaign, Gachagua, accompanied by other leaders, spent time walking through villages and engaging residents directly.
He said the personal interactions reinforced his belief that Karish is the right choice for the constituency.
Gachagua said he will continue visiting homes and villages to ensure voters hear the message of what he termed a liberation agenda.
He framed the campaign as a movement to build a stronger and more united Kenya.
“I am with the villagers every step of the way,” he said.
He added that his efforts were focused on reaching people ‘one by one, home by home, village by village.’
The former Deputy President described Kariuki as a leader rooted in community needs, saying his approach prioritises ordinary citizens and their day-to-day challenges.
He urged residents to embrace what he called a moment of change.
“Change is in Mbeere North,” Gachagua said, noting that his discussions with villagers showed growing support for Karish.
Gachagua said Kariuki is fully aligned with local voters, praising what he called the awakened and hardworking villagers of Mbeere North, saying they are ready for political renewal.
The visit is part of a broader campaign push ahead of the upcoming by-election.
Gachagua has been active in several regions as he seeks to rally supporters behind candidates he believes will advance the administration’s development agenda.
The by-election has drawn intense political interest, with parties stepping up their presence as polling day approaches.
The DP candidate faces stiff competition from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku have also intensified UDA’s campaign efforts in Mbeere North ahead of the November 27 by-election.
The two leaders threw their full weight behind UDA candidate Leonard Muthende, assuring him of unwavering support from the party’s top leadership as the contest enters its final stretch.
