On the RadarUnited States Department of State will hold a digital press briefing g on an update to
PEPFAR’s commitment to reach up to two million people globally by 2028 with the breakthrough HIV drug Lenacapavir.
The briefing will detail the first delivery of Lenacapavir in Eswatini and will include remarks by the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD), Becky Bunnell; the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Gilead Sciences, Daniel O’Day, and the Executive Director of the Global Fund, Peter Sands.
On September 4, the U.S. Government, in partnership with the Global Fund, committed to co-funding the purchase of the drug Lenacapavir, a new and extremely effective HIV prevention injection that only has to be taken twice a year, for distribution of the dug in 8-12 high-burden HIV countries via the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Manufactured by Gilead Sciences, an American company, Lenacapavir has the potential to significantly reduce new HIV infections, particularly among pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The briefing will be held from 11.am.
MPs to meet KUJ over proposed amendments to Media Council Act
National Assembly Departmental Committee on Communication, Information and Innovation will meet officials of the Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) on the proposal to amend the Kenya Media Council Act of 2013.
The meeting is scheduled to take place from 9.30 am at Bunge Tower, Nairobi.
The Media Council Act of 2013 is subject of recent and ongoing discussions for amendments, particularly regarding the inclusion of online content creators, strengthening the independence of the Council, and refining its mandate to cover new media landscapes.
Proposed changes include updating the definition of a "journalist" and other practitioners to encompass bloggers and online content creators, requiring the head of a media house to have a journalism background, and enhancing the Council's independence from government influence.
In September, Media Council of Kenya asked Parliament to hasten amendments to the Media Council Act 2023 to strengthen its regulatory mandate and align it with emerging industry realities.
MCK CEO David Omwoyo said the proposed changes would close legislative gaps, give the council greater power to enforce the code of conduct and bring its role in line with the new Code of Conduct for Media Practice 2025.
Senators to grill KWS over park fee hikes
The Senate Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism will meet Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to deliberate on recent hike in park fees and the imposed 8.5 per cent gateway levy on all park fees.
The meeting with Director-General Erustus Kanga will be held at Bunge Towers from 10 am.
KWS park fee hikes were proposed and announced in September/October 2025, but a court has since halted their implementation.
Therefore, the new fees are not currently in effect, and visitors should be aware that some fees might be subject to change in the future once legal challenges are resolved.
The proposed fees aimed to raise prices, for example,
increasing the Nairobi National Park fee from Sh430 to Sh1,000 for Kenyans.
Government, private sector meet to address agriculture value chains challenges

The meeting brings together key Cabinet Secretaries, senior government officials and private-sector leaders to deliberate on policy bottlenecks, regulatory issues, financing challenges, and pathways to accelerate sector competitiveness
The meeting will be held at PrideInn Westlands Luxury Boutique Hotel from 8am.
UoN, Fleming Fund Kenya to launch World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week
University of Nairobi, through Fleming Fund Kenya Country Grant will launch the 13th World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week at the Glee Hotel, Nairobi.
The launch will be held at 10 am and will be preceded by a high-level breakfast roundtable meeting at 8.00 am at the same venue.
The World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) is a global campaign aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promoting best practices among One Health stakeholders to reduce the emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.
WAAW is marked annually from November 18-24. The theme for 2025 is “Act now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future.”

Reggae artist Luciano who is in the country for performances
will address a press conference at Movenpick Hotel, Westlands at 8am.

Luciano is widely known for reading Biblical verses prior to performances. In 2002, he was nominated for the 44th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Reggae Album category for his work ‘A New Day‘. He was also nominated for the Awards in 2016 for the 58th annual ceremony, for his artistic work ‘Zion Awake‘ in the same category.
AG’s office to roll out legal aid services nationwide
Office of the Attorney General will commission the roll-out of legal aid services across all 47 counties.
The roll-out will be crowned by the launch of the Kibera
Legal Aid Centre at the Kibera Law Courts grounds.
