President William Ruto has wrapped up his development tour in Kitui County, meeting with grassroots leaders.

Accompanied by his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, the president held the meeting at Kitui State Lodge, Kitui County.

During his tour, Ruto promised significant investments in healthcare, land ownership and infrastructure.

The tour reinforced his administration’s commitment to bringing key services and development closer to the people.

This grassroots outreach follows earlier caucuses, such as a May gathering where over 1,500 grassroots and professionals from Kitui, Machakos and Makueni met the President at State House.

During his Kitui tour, Ruto announced that the national government will invest Sh200 million to build a new Level 4 hospital at Mutito, named Nzamba Kitonga Memorial Hospital in honour of the late Committee of Experts chairman.

Ruto also handed out 15,000 title deeds to residents of Kamuwongo and Mwingi North in Kitui, a move aimed at settling lingering land ownership issues.

He formally launched the tarmacking of a 13km road between Kamuwongo and Kandwia, which is expected to improve connectivity and market access for local farmers.

He also inspected and handed over the newly built Kamuwongo fresh produce market, a major facility that supports over 200 local traders. The market features cold rooms, an ICT hub, baby-nursing rooms and other amenities designed to boost local commerce and youth employment.

Ruto’s tour underscores his bottom-up economic agenda, focused on boosting access to healthcare, improving land rights, and upgrading infrastructure, while consolidating his relationship with grassroots constituencies ahead of future development milestones.
