A 32-year-old man died after being struck while attempting to separate a couple who were fighting in a village in Malinya, Kakamega County, police have reported. 

According to authorities, Owen Savai went to a neighbour’s house on Thursday where a commotion was ongoing.

During the altercation, one of the individuals involved struck Savai on the head with a wooden stick, fatally wounding him.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. The suspect fled the scene and had not been arrested as of Friday.

In a separate incident in Butere, Kakamega County, police are investigating the deaths of two men who were reportedly attacked by a mob amid allegations of livestock theft.

The first case occurred along Eshirembe-Ishihaka Road, where 24-year-old James Ambunya was found dead with multiple injuries.

Authorities said he was taken from his home by a group and killed nearby.

In Musanda area, 27-year-old Wycliffe Were was reportedly taken from his home by a mob and fatally injured approximately 50 meters away.

According to police, his mother heard him scream but was unable to intervene because the house was locked from outside. The body was later recovered by a neighbour.

The victims’ bodies have been moved to the mortuary pending autopsies and further investigations.

Police reiterated their warning against mob violence, urging residents to report suspects to authorities.

Elsewhere, police are investigating two separate drowning incidents in Migori and Kericho Counties.

In Dede area, Migori County, a three-year-old boy drowned in a family well while playing with friends. The uncovered well was reported to authorities, and the body was retrieved and taken to a local mortuary.

In Londiani, Kericho County, a six-year-old boy went missing for several hours before his body was found in the Kipchorian River. Authorities are investigating the incident, and the body was taken to a mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Homa Bay’s Got Oyaro area, a fisherman remains missing after a boat capsized during a fishing expedition on Wednesday dawn. Three of the four occupants were rescued, while one is yet to be located.

Local fishermen are assisting in search and rescue efforts.

In Fort Ternan, Kipkelion, Kericho County, a ten-year-old boy drowned in a pool of water while bathing at a quarry on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The body was retrieved by local divers and taken to a mortuary pending further procedures. Residents have called on authorities to secure or fill the dam to prevent further accidents.
