Police in Nairobi are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered in a guest house in Eastleigh area in what is suspected to be a case of murder.

The woman, believed to be about 30 years old, was found dead on Wednesday morning at a lodging along 18th Street.

Cleaners made the grim discovery several hours after she had checked in with a man who identified himself only as Paul.

According to police, the two arrived at the facility the previous night and booked a room.

The man reportedly left the premises around 6 a.m., telling the receptionist that the woman was still asleep.

Five hours later, hotel staff entered the room and found her lifeless body lying on the floor.

Police said the woman had no visible injuries, though initial findings suggest she may have been strangled.

The suspect’s mobile phone was later found switched off, and detectives have since launched a manhunt.

The body was moved to the city mortuary pending identification and a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have taken over the case.

In a separate incident in Siaya County, a 30-year-old woman was found murdered in her home in Nambo, Usenge, Bondo.

Police identified the deceased as Victoria Mathayo.

Officers said her body, which bore visible neck injuries and signs of bleeding from one ear, was discovered on a mattress long after the attack. Investigators suspect a blunt object was used in the assault.

Police at the scene reported that the house appeared disturbed, indicating a possible struggle.

The woman’s boyfriend, who had been living with her, is missing and has been listed as a person of interest in the investigation.

Neighbours told police the couple had been involved in frequent domestic disputes.

The body was moved to the Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s Obama estate, police are investigating the sudden death of a one-year-old girl.

According to the parents, they woke up on Wednesday morning and found the child unresponsive.

They alerted authorities after attempts to wake her up failed.

The cause of death remains unknown, and the body has been moved to the mortuary pending post-mortem results.

In another incident, police in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, are probing the death of a 37-year-old man who drowned in a dam within a sisal estate.

The man, identified as Samson Mwazo, reportedly entered the water on Wednesday afternoon while in the company of colleagues.

His body was retrieved shortly afterward and taken to a local mortuary for an autopsy.

Police have urged the public to exercise caution around open water bodies and to report suspicious deaths or disappearances promptly to aid investigations.
