President William Ruto has praised his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga, for his dedication and attentiveness in the execution of his duties.

Speaking while in Samburu on Sunday during a church service, the President described Colonel Lengusuranga as his right-hand man recognising him for attending to his duties with keenness

“Here is my right-hand man, my Aide-de-Camp (ADC). He is called Fabian Lengusuranga. He knows my 24-hour schedule. He knows where I am all the time. He knows who I visit, where I go and where I sleep. When there is a breach in my security here, people who are here will be answerable.”

Ruto said Lengusuranga has become a central pillar in coordinating his movements and ensuring the smooth flow of presidential engagements.

The President added that the ADC’s role requires precision, discipline, and deep trust, noting that Lengusuranga has handled the job with professionalism and humility.

The ADC’s position, though largely ceremonial in public appearance, is a critical assignment in State protocol and operational security.

The officer is responsible for coordinating the President’s daily schedule, movement logistics, and liaising with various security units attached to the Presidency.

Lengusuranga, who hails from Samburu County, was appointed ADC in October 2022, replacing Brigadier Timothy Lekolool.

He previously served in the Kenya Army and has been recognized as part of the elite special operations ranks within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

His elevation has been noted as part of career progression for senior officers trusted with high-level responsibilities.

In June 2025, Ruto's Aide-de-Camp Colonel Lengusuranga was promoted to the rank of a brigadier.

Lengusuranga was among the KDF officers whose ranks were officially conferred during an investiture and swearing-in ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.

The promotions, postings, and appointments were made following recommendations by the Defence Council and approved by the president.

The council is chaired by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya.

He joined the Kenya Army in 1999 and has risen steadily through the ranks, previously serving as a senior Special Forces branch commander.

Brigadier Lekolool served as retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ADC from 2018 and briefly held the same position under Ruto before Lengusuranga's appointment

Lekolool was the first ADC in Kenya drawn from the Navy, making history in that capacity.

The title “Aide-de-Camp” originates from French, meaning “helper in the military camp.”

The ADC is a principal military officer assigned to the President, often seen at the Head of State’s side during official functions.

The period in which an ADC will serve depends on several issues, including age, but most of them serve in that capacity for three years.

According to the National Defence Council (NDC), changes at the office of the ADC is effected from time to time because of the career progression of officers.
