President Dr. William Samoei Ruto is set to begin a four-day development tour of the Ukambani region from Wednesday, November 12, 2025, with an extensive itinerary covering Makueni, Kitui, and Machakos counties.
Despite it been postponed several times, it was initially supposed to happen in April then postponed to October and eventually the tour will start on November 12,2025.
The President’s visit is expected to focus on infrastructure, housing, and other key development projects as part of his government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
The tour will kick off in Makueni county, where the President is scheduled to visit three major development sites.
In Kilome constituency, he will commission the newly completed Mikuyu Bridge, a crucial link designed to improve connectivity and enhance local trade.
From there, President Ruto will proceed to Kibwezi West constituency for the official launch of the Emali–Ukia road, a project that promises to ease transport and spur business within the region.
Later, he will inspect the ongoing Wote Affordable Housing Project in Makueni constituency, underscoring his administration’s commitment to expanding access to affordable housing for citizens.
On Thursday, the President will head to Kitui county, where he is expected to preside over a series of engagements across five constituencies.
The highlight of the Kitui visit will be the commissioning of the Ithookwe Stadium and the Kitui Airstrip in Kitui Central, marking a major boost for sports and regional air connectivity.
On Friday, the President’s focus will shift to Machakos County.
In Kangundo Constituency, he will launch the Kangundo–Mwala Road before proceeding to Mwala constituency to commission the Kivandini–Miseleni Road.
The day will conclude in Machakos Town constituency, where the President will open the Machakos Affordable Housing Project, furthering efforts to meet the national housing target.
The four-day tour will conclude on Saturday with a leaders’ meeting, bringing together elected representatives, opinion leaders, and local stakeholders from the three counties.
The session will focus on evaluating development progress and charting future priorities for the Ukambani region.
President Ruto’s upcoming tour comes just weeks after he reaffirmed his commitment to visit the region.
The President had initially planned a week-long tour in October but canceled it following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui, Ruto promised to return for the postponed tour.
“Nyinyi mnajua nilikuwa na mpango ya kutembea hapa kwa shughuli ya maendeleo ya taifa letu, hasa ya Kitui county... nilikuwa nimepanga safari ya siku tano hapa na pia siku zingine za Ukambani,” he told the crowd, assuring them that the development agenda would continue as planned.
With his return to Ukambani, President Ruto is expected to
reinforce his administration’s focus on infrastructure growth, housing
delivery, and economic transformation and have key pillars in his government’s drive
to improve livelihoods across the country.
