Detectives are investigating claims that a house girl stole a pistol with 40 bullets and cash from her employer in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area.

The housegirl had been left alone in the house on Monday, November 3, 2025, when she stole the valuables, the employer told police.

The owner of the house is a licensed firearm holder.

He told police he and his family had left their house for errands, but when they returned, they found the portable safe missing from his bedroom wardrobe.

The safe had the Glock pistol with two magazines, USD1,950, Euros600, Sh5,000 assorted jewelry, land titles, and other electronics.

The woman escaped with the safe in a carton.

Security cameras at the compound captured her as she walked out with the carton. The guards on duty said they thought she had been sent somewhere.

Nairobi police boss George Seda said they are making efforts to trace the woman for grilling and possible recovery of the weapon and cash.

There are fears she may sell the weapon for criminal activities.
