Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asma of Morocco arrived in Kenya on Tuesday afternoon for a three-day official visit.

Her aircraft touched down at 2pm at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, where she was warmly received by First Lady Rachel Ruto and senior government officials.

During her stay, the Princess is scheduled to visit the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Wednesday to witness the progress of Kenya’s ongoing Cochlear Implant Programme.

She will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration between Kenya and Morocco in the area of hearing health.

In a gesture of goodwill, Princess Lalla Asma made a donation of Cochlear implant devices worth Sh120 million.

The contribution, handed over to the Ministry of Health under the Voice of Children Programme spearheaded by First Lady Rachel Ruto, will help restore hearing and hope to dozens of Kenyan children living with hearing impairments.

A specialised team from Kenyatta National Hospital, led by acting chief executive officer Dr Richard Lesiyampe, is conducting the implant surgeries.

Later in the evening, First Lady Rachel Ruto will host a State Dinner at State House, Nairobi, in honour of Her Royal Highness, celebrating the growing partnership between Kenya and Morocco in advancing inclusive healthcare and child welfare.
