The first group of injured victims from the mudslides in Kerio Valley have been airlifted to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
The mudslides have claimed the lives of more than 20 people in several villages, including Embobut area.
Tens of homes were flattened early today.
Three KDF choppers are being used to airlift the victims from the area, a flight that takes about 30 minutes to Eldoret.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is in the area to help coordinate rescue operations.



Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat is among senior officials at the Eldoret Airstrip coordinating rescue activities for the injured.
Medical teams and Red Cross workers have also been flown to the affected areas to assist victims.
Several ambulances have been stationed at the Eldoret Airstrip to receive the injured from the choppers and transfer them to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Counties in the region have been mobilised to support the disaster response, with ambulances from neighbouring areas heading to Elgeyo Marakwet.
Medical staff at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and other facilities in Eldoret have been placed on standby to receive the injured.
Rotich said all governors in the region are helping to coordinate aid to the affected areas.
