Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashim is set to make history as the first East African to host The Future Awards Africa (TFAA).

Azeezah’s selection as the host marks a significant milestone being she is the first person from East Africa to take the helm of this event, challenging the regional norms and broadening representation across the continent.

''Honoured to be hosting the 19th Edition of The Future Awards Africa this year alongside Nollywood’s baddest Mike Afolarin,'' Azeezah  said on a post on her Instagram page.

''The Future Awards through The Future Project has for years changed and shaped the lives of many Africans and being a part of such an impactful and historic event is a huge honour and blessing!''

Her role signals a deliberate move by the organisers to amplify diverse voices and styles.

For East Africa, this is more than just a hosting gig, as regional talent will be seen and celebrated on the pan-African stage.

The Radio host's appointment also brings fresh energy and perspective to the TFAA brand since she will carry with her the multicultural flavour of urban Kenyan life and a genuine connection with emerging audiences.

At the upcoming ceremony, Azeezah is expected to bring her signature style to a live theatre brimming with African youth leaders, entertainers, entrepreneurs and changemakers.

Over the years, TFAA has featured an iconic lineup of hosts including Bonang Matheba, Toke Makinwa, Adekunle Gold, Nomzamo Mbatha and many others.

From captivating audiences on Kenyan television to now taking center stage in Nigeria, Azeezah continues to shine as one of East Africa’s brightest media stars.

Azeezah's career took off when she joined Kenyan radio and later television, eventually becoming the host of the popular entertainment show  10 over 10 on Citizen TV.

She is also known for her presence as a live event MC and on stage host for major shows in Kenya and across Africa showing that her appeal extends beyond just the TV/radio studio.

Over the years she’s been lauded for her energy, authenticity and ability to engage a youthful audience.

The 2024 edition of The Future Awards Africa (18th edition) was hosted by Ladipoe, Mbryo and Andre Vibez.

Since its inception in 2006, the event has mostly spotlighted West African talent and leadership.

The Kenyan media star now joins this elite list of influential voices shaping the narrative of African excellence.

Consequently, in 2024, she was named Media Personality of the Year at the Odartey Style and Fashion Awards in Ghana recognising her excellence in combining media and fashion influence.

Her hosting marks a powerful moment not only for Kenya but for East Africa at large, as she brings her vibrant energy, authenticity and youth-driven passion to one of Africa’s most influential stages.
