[PHOTOS] Ruto leads groundbreaking of Susan Kihika primary school

The Head of State said the project is part of the government’s broader plan to expand access to quality education through the construction and modernization of learning institutions across the country.

In one of the photos from the event, President Ruto is seen unveiling a commemorative plaque draped with Kenyan flags to officially mark the start of the project. Smiling and dressed in a light-blue shirt, the President pulls a cord to unveil the marker, surrounded by cheering residents and construction workers. 

Another photo captures him seated inside a yellow excavator, wearing a safety helmet and a reflective vest, as he operates the machine to symbolize the official start of the construction works. The gesture drew applause from onlookers, highlighting his hands-on approach to launching development projects. 

The new school, named after Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, is expected to provide modern learning facilities for both primary and junior secondary levels. It will include classrooms, laboratories, and digital learning centers aimed at improving the learning environment for local children. 

President Ruto emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that every child in Kenya has access to education facilities that meet 21st-century standards.  

He noted that education remains a cornerstone of the government’s development agenda under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

During the same event, the President also launched the Nakuru East Last Mile Connectivity Programme, a component of a Sh2.6 billion investment designed to connect more than 22,000 households to electricity across Nakuru County. 

He said the government is prioritizing last-mile electricity connections to improve living standards and promote small businesses, especially in rural areas. 

The ceremony attracted local leaders, including Governor Susan Kihika, education officials, and residents who welcomed the development as a major boost to the community. 

The groundbreaking marks another milestone in the government’s push to enhance social infrastructure and ensure equitable access to education and energy services across the country.
