

The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Kenya, has joined the nation
and global community in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Raila
Amolo Odinga, describing him as a visionary leader, a champion of democracy,
and a tireless advocate for justice and equality.
In a condolence message signed by His Holiness Mahant Swami
Maharaj, the Spiritual Head of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, the global Hindu
organization expressed deep sorrow at Raila’s death, calling him “one of Africa’s
most respected statesmen.”
“With deep sorrow, I received the sad news of the passing of
The Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of Kenya and one
of Africa’s most respected statesmen,” Mahant Swami Maharaj said in a letter
addressed to the Odinga family from Gondal, India.
He said Raila will always be remembered as “a visionary
leader, a champion of democracy, and a tireless advocate for justice and
equality.”
The BAPS leader hailed Raila’s lifelong service and
dedication to the people of Kenya, noting that his courage, integrity, and
commitment to public good left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire
generations.
“Such noble souls, who dedicate their lives selflessly for
the welfare of others, remain a guiding light for humanity even after their
earthly journey has ended,” Mahant Swami wrote.
He also conveyed special prayers for Raila’s eternal peace,
saying, “I have prayed to Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Pramukh Swami Maharaj for
the eternal peace of his soul and for increased strength and comfort to the
Odinga family.”
The spiritual head further extended prayers to the people of
Kenya, urging national unity and harmony in the face of loss.
“We pray for the people of Kenya, that the nation may
continue to be blessed with peace, prosperity, and unity, and that all citizens
may live in harmony, progress, and well-being,” he said.
In a separate condolence message, the BAPS Swaminarayan
Sanstha Kenya described Raila as “a leader whose lifelong dedication,
leadership, and service to the people of Kenya will forever be remembered with
respect and gratitude.”
“Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this
time of great loss,” read the statement signed by the trustees and
administration team.
The organization also confirmed that special prayers had
been held in memory of the late statesman, with devotees across Kenya and
abroad joining in mourning.
