The ambulances have been deployed to offer care during the arrival of the body of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga at JKIA.
Medical Services PS Ouma Oluga announced the deployment, noting that the move is part of a coordinated medical preparedness plan to ensure swift response and safety throughout the reception ceremony.
The ambulances have been strategically stationed within and around the airport to provide immediate medical assistance in case of any emergencies during the solemn national event.
Oluga said each ambulance is fully equipped with both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) facilities.
The units are manned by a qualified paramedic, nurse, and driver to ensure effective on-site response and safe patient evacuation when necessary.
This ensures that the Ministry can handle any health-related emergencies promptly and efficiently as large crowds gather to witness the arrival of the late statesman’s body.
The deployment includes contributions from various emergency service providers: Kenya Red Cross has mobilised 20 ambulances, St. John Ambulance has deployed 4, Nairobi Disaster Service 3, Nairobi Emergency Services 8, and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) 1.
Additionally, a Port Health ambulance will remain on standby at JKIA to coordinate supplementary medical support and liaise with other response teams during the operation.
Oluga emphasised that the mobilisation reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards during national events of this magnitude.
He further disclosed that similar emergency response efforts are being prepared for Kisumu and Siaya counties, where subsequent ceremonies and tributes are expected to take place.
The coordinated deployment underscores the Ministry’s proactive approach in ensuring medical readiness and public safety as the nation mourns one of its most influential political leaders.
The Ministry of Health assured Kenyans that all medical teams are on high alert to provide assistance, reflecting both efficiency and solidarity during this moment of national mourning.
