SHA Board chairman Abdi Mohamed thanked the institution’s staff for their support during the leadership transition, noting that the new team will bring stability and renewed momentum to the Authority’s reform agenda.

“The Board extends its profound gratitude to the staff for their unwavering dedication and support provided to the interim senior management team during the transition period,” he said.

The authority’s leadership overhaul signals its readiness to deliver on the government’s universal health coverage (UHC) vision by streamlining processes and enhancing stakeholder confidence.

The appointments come at a time when the Social Health Authority is finalising key operational frameworks for the implementation of the new Social Health Insurance (SHIF) scheme, which replaced the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Under the new structure, SHA is responsible for pooling health funds, managing benefits, processing claims and ensuring accountability across the healthcare financing chain.

The expanded leadership team is expected to play a crucial role in improving service delivery, building institutional capacity and ensuring efficient use of resources.

By strengthening its management structure, SHA aims to position itself as a robust institution capable of ensuring every Kenyan can access quality and affordable healthcare without facing financial hardship.
