Neighbours said they had not seen Purity Onyina for a day, which made them concerned about her whereabouts.

They went and pushed the door to her single room and found it open.

The neighbours told police the body was found lying on the bed before alerting the authorities.

It was later established that the woman had neck injuries, suggesting she may have been strangled.

The motive of the October 6, 2025, murder was not immediately established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.

No arrest has been made so far, police said.

Elsewhere, police are investigating murder in an incident where the body of a man was found on the roadside along the Kisii-Oyugis highway, Homa Bay county.

The man seemed to have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene when it was discovered on October 6, 2025, at Kidi Kokech area, police said.

Police said the body had stab wounds on the head and bruises.

Elsewhere in Mwea, Kirinyaga county, a man was found murdered and his body abandoned on a footpath.

Police said the body was found lying on a footpath next to Itangi ACK Church on Monday.

The body had visible physical injuries on the face.

On keen scrutiny of the scene, there was no blood seen where the body was lying and no signs of struggle, which suggested that the person might have been killed elsewhere and the body brought to the scene, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police added.

The attackers escaped soon after the incident, police said. The body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and hunt for the assailants.
