Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on
Monday inspected a series of ongoing national government development projects
in Garissa County.
The projects include the New Tana River Bridge and approach
roads, as well as the Garissa Airstrip, which is currently being upgraded.
“To improve transport connectivity and boost commerce in
Northern Kenya, the Government is upgrading the Garissa Airstrip for Sh710 million, which includes an input of Sh110 million from
the County Government of Garissa,” the Deputy President said.
He was also accompanied by Garissa Township MP Major Dekow
Barrow, among other leaders from the country and the region.
The inspection tour came ahead of an empowerment event for
small-scale traders affected by the Suq Mugdi fire tragedy in July this year.
