
Police are investigating an incident where the body of a South Sudanese man was found floating on Lake Nakuru.
The victim had been missing for days, and the incident had been reported, police said.
This followed a search comprising police, Kenya Wildlife Service personnel, and the family of Mach Mayen Anyieth, 21.
The body was
found floating at the said lake near the Nyuki area and retrieved before being
taken to a local mortuary.
Police said the body
was decomposing at the time of its discovery and had a visible injury at the
back of the head.
The cause of the
death is yet to be known, police said, adding an investigation into the same is
ongoing.
Police said they had
opened a murder probe.
Elsewhere in Kwanza,
Trans Nzoia County’s Sikoreria village of Maridadi Sub Location, one Hellen
Amukope, 38, was found dead in her house.
Preliminary
investigation revealed that her husband assaulted the deceased on the forehead
using a hammer and stabbed her on the buttocks using a sharp object.
She succumbed to the
injuries in her bed, police said. The said assailant escaped the scene as
police arrived there and picked up the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said the hunt
for the man is ongoing and urged him to surrender to authorities for action.
And police in Magunga, Suba South, are
investigating a murder where a woman was clobbered to death by her brother-in-law
in a domestic fight.
The incident happened
on Wednesday at Ongayo E village within Kaksingiri East location and involved
one Esther Achieng, 28, police said, adding the assailant used a club for the
mission.
The deceased was
suspected of having stolen money from the suspect, police said.
The assailant was
later arrested pending interrogation and arraignment for murder.
Such murder incidents have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to solve them. The deaths involve relatives who fight over, among others, land, love, and money, police said.
Elsewhere in
Nyamira’s Miruka area, a man died in hospital after he had been attacked by
unknown people.
Duncan Odhiambo, 30, succumbed to the injuries he sustained on September 13, 2025, in the area,
police said.
He was on his way home in the Bugo area when he was attacked and sustained serious neck and face injuries.
He sought treatment at a private clinic and was discharged, but his
condition deteriorated on September 30, 2025, when he succumbed to the injuries,
police said.
Police said they are
investigating the incident.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
